Each month throughout the year our congregation participates in a

“Cause of the Month.”

This cause may take the form of providing physical labor for a local cause (which is often partnering with a nonprofit organization) or collecting items to assist an organization in carrying out their mission within our community.

In some cases, the cause may involve providing some sort of educational opportunity for the residents of Brookings. In other cases, we may join together alongside others outside of our constituency in an already scheduled event.

But in all cases, we seek to expand the worldview of our minds, while extending our hands in service beyond the walls of our church building.

August Cause of the Month

This month’s cause is a feeding ministry called the Harvest Table. It takes place every Monday at the community center on the corner of 6th St. and 7th Ave. The date BUCC will be serving is August 11th. Some folks will be gathering at 2pm to prepare the meal, and the rest of the volunteers will arrive at 4:30pm in preparation to serve the meal. This program serves around 100 people per week who are in need of this type of food assistance. So we are looking forward to not only serving the food we prepare, but engaging our guests in the type of conversation and hospitality that shows and conveys the love of Christ!
