Each month throughout the year our congregation participates in a

“Cause of the Month.”

This cause may take the form of providing physical labor for a local cause (which is often partnering with a nonprofit organization) or collecting items to assist an organization in carrying out their mission within our community.

In some cases, the cause may involve providing some sort of educational opportunity for the residents of Brookings. In other cases, we may join together alongside others outside of our constituency in an already scheduled event.

But in all cases, we seek to expand the worldview of our minds, while extending our hands in service beyond the walls of our church building.

November Cause of the Month

The cause of the month for this November will once again be our Community Thanksgiving Meal. We have a core team who will coordinate the details of our meal, but over the next few weeks we will be asking for your help to prepare/contribute certain elements of the meal. Our church has a tradition of offering this meal free of charge to anyone in the community who is either food insecure, or simply just desiring to gather with family or other folks, rather than eating at home alone. The meal will be served on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27th) from 11am-1pm, although we will need volunteers earlier that morning for preparation. A signup sheet will be available in the sanctuary beginning Nov. 9th. If you are interested in helping but unable to sign up on the church clipboard, please contact Pastor Mark.
