Each month throughout the year our congregation participates in a

“Cause of the Month.”

This cause may take the form of providing physical labor for a local cause (which is often partnering with a nonprofit organization) or collecting items to assist an organization in carrying out their mission within our community.

In some cases, the cause may involve providing some sort of educational opportunity for the residents of Brookings. In other cases, we may join together alongside others outside of our constituency in an already scheduled event.

But in all cases, we seek to expand the worldview of our minds, while extending our hands in service beyond the walls of our church building.

September Cause of the Month

The cause of the month for this September will be the issue of Education. As such, we will once again be providing treats and refreshments for our teachers and staff at Medary Elementary. Some of you may not know that our church family began by meeting in the gym of that school on Sunday mornings before

our church building was constructed. Since then, we have partnered with them in different ways to benefit our community. And one of the simple ways we can show our love is to offer this as a service of thanks for all their hard work.

In addition, we will have cards available next Sunday (Sept.15th) during

worship for the congregation to take and write personal greetings of encouragement for each staff member. After being returned to church the following Sunday (Sept.22nd), we will present them to the school while dropping off our bars and refreshments to their break room Monday, Sept.23rd.
