When you click on this link within most church websites, they will not only tell you what they believe, but the inference (or plain language) suggests that you should believe the same thing as well. And in this way, many churches institute a means test of correct beliefs for a person to be considered a “True Christian.”
That’s not who we are at the Brookings United Church of Christ. We are a diverse family of people who espouse a variety of beliefs when it comes to matters of faith.
But what we have in common is a desire (as stated in Micah 6:8) to seek justice, love, mercy, and walk humbly with our God. The one thing we hold in common is a desire to follow in the way of Jesus, whom we believe to be the best representation of the nature of God.
So bring your doubts, your fears, your anxieties, and whatever other baggage you are carrying, and join in sharing it all together with our church family. Our congregation may be small, but our minds are not. We believe that faith is a journey, not a destination. Just bring an inquisitive mind and an open heart. Your questions are welcomed here.
